ASUS ZenFone 3 – features of the latest ASUS ZenFone smartphone

The ASUS ZenFone 3 is much more premium offering than the 2nd-gen ZenFone. The phone sports a metallic frame for enhanced durability, and a 2.5D curved glass back panel, which is certainly more premium than the plastic build of the ZenFone 2. The device features a sleek profile with a 7.6mm waistline, and tips the scale at 155 grams. Overall, the ZenFone not only feels premium in hand, but also looks attractive than some of its competitors in the sub-Rs 16,000 price range.

Display and OS

The ZenFone 3 is a phablet-grade smartphone featuring a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display. The device delivers an excellent media viewing experience thanks to a high pixel density count of 401 pixels per inch. To project the screen from scratches, the handset also gets a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top of the display. As for the software, the latest ZenFone model runs Android Marshmallow out of the box with ZenUI 3.0 on top. As compared to the first and 2nd-gen ZenFones, the ZenFone 3 smartphone offers less bloatware, and comes pre-loaded with less ASUS applications.

Talking about the configuration, the ASUS ZenFone 3 is powered by a powerful 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. Actually it is the first smartphone to be powered by the new Snapdragon 625 SoC. The performance of the device is further supported by meaty 4GB of RAM. The handset sports a massive 64GB of internal memory, which can also be further increased up to 128GB by inserting a microSD card. Overall, the ZenFone 3 is one of the best options if you are looking for a powerful smartphone in the mid-range budget.

Moving on to the camera, the ASUS ZenFone 3 flaunts a 16-megapixel primary snapper with a dual-tone LED flash, ASUS TriTech autofocus, which allows the device to automatically select laser, phase detection and continuous autofocus that offers fast focus in just 0.03 seconds. For selfies and video calling, the phone offers a decent 8-megapiuxel secondary shooter. The ZenFone 3 is one of the few smartphones in its price range to offer TriTech autofocus technology. The phone will certainly impress the shutter bugs.

Connectivity and Battery

In terms of connectivity, the ASUS ZenFone 3 offers 4G LTE with X9 LTE model for faster data transfer speeds, a USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, and A-GPS. The phone also boasts a fingerprint sensor, which is located on the back right below the rear snapper. The device is fuelled by a beefy 3,000mAh battery, which doesn’t support QuickCharge technology, which is found on the other two ZenFone models.

The ASUS ZenFone 3 is much better than the 2nd-gen ZenFone in terms of design, power and features. The phone offers an excellent display, a powerful processor, a fingerprint sensor for enhanced user security, impressive camera features, Cat 6 4G LTE support, and a huge battery. Also, the phone comes with a durable metallic frame, and the latest software experience thanks to Marshmallow.
