Red Hat Certifications For Better Career Prospects

May 9, 2016

Red Hat certification courses such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator), RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) and several others are globally recognized certifications in acquiring skills and expertise in the open source Linux operating system. IT professionals worldwide with an objective to have a strong career profile and better job opportunities opt for RHCSA and RHCE certification training courses.

RHCSA training is a necessary prerequisite to RHCE certification. Several RedHat training options are available for interested candidates willing to obtain these certifications. These training courses are offered by Red Hat Certified Training Partners in India and from all over the world.

Option 1: RHCSA Certification & Training Course

This is the first system administration certification from Red Hat that professionals need to earn in order to begin their career in Linux system administration. The training course aligns with the critical skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful Linux Administrator. The training is imparted through hands-on, lab based learning.

This is a foundation level course and does not require any prior operating system administration experience. The curriculum includes two courses – Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) and Red Hat System Administration II (RH134). Successful completion of these two courses prepares candidates for the RHCSA lab-based exam (EX200).

Option 2: RHCSA on RHEL 7

This is another RHCSA training option that prepares interested professionals for the RHCSA certification exam (EX200). The course focuses on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL 7) and helps candidates learn various core Linux administration tasks and skills.

The curriculum includes two courses – Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) and Red Hat System Administration II (RH135). While RH124 emphasizes on basic system administration concepts and skills, RH135 covers advanced tasks and areas such as partitioning and file systems, SELinux, logical volumes, troubleshooting, and firewall configuration.

For both Option 1 and 2, RHCSA certification can be followed by the RHCE training course and certification. However, you also get training options wherein both RHCSA and RHCE certifications courses are included as a single training program. These options are listed below:

Option 3: RHCE on RHEL 7

This certification is meant for professionals who are willing to work as Linux administrators configuring networking services and security running on RHEL 7 operating system. Participants attending this training learn to manage DNS for servers, configure email delivery, provide block-based and file based storage, and several other critical administration tasks.

This Red Hat training program includes three courses – Red Hat System Administration I (RH124); Red Hat System Administration II with RHCSA exam (RH135); and Red Hat System Administration III with RHCSA and RHCE Exam (RH255). Students completing this training program need to appear for both RHCSA (EX200) and RHCE (EX300) examinations.

As RHCE training course includes both RHCSA and RHCE curriculum, it can be taken up by professionals even without any prior operating system administration experience.

Option 4: RHCE (2 Takes) on RHEL 7

This is a popular boot camp option that offers two back-to-back takes on the RHCE examination, which is considered to be a difficult examination. The course modules are same as that in Option 3 above. The only difference is in the duration of the boot camp. In this case, 2-3 days are kept as buffer for students to take a second attempt in case they fail to pass the RHCE (EX300) exam in their first attempt.

If you are interested in any of these boot camps, you may contact some reputed Red Hat Certified Training Partners in India for complete details on training schedule, price and location.
