7 Tips For Making Your Bedroom Comfortable

December 1, 2015

The bedroom is a place where we need to feel safe, comfortable, and protected. Sometimes it’s very difficult striking the right chord in bedroom decoration so it becomes the perfect sanctuary for us. You should always try to avoid these mistakes that will stall your efforts on your making your bedroom a comfortable and peaceful place.

1. Brightly Colored Sheets

Although you may want to give your bed a very personal stamp, try to steer away from colorful patterns and designs because it will definitely not make your bedroom an oasis of peace. Instead of colorful, use sheets that are neutral. During the day, you can always use decorative covers.

2. Never Leave Your Walls Bare

The bedroom should be personal, it should paint a picture of your character. And the best way to express yourself is through art, whether you are the artist, or you bought something from a gallery or from somewhere else. Don’t worry about buying the wrong thing, just buy what you like.

3. Try Limiting the use of your Phone in Bed

You should try having the least amount of electronic devices you can in your bedroom, which includes your phone. The light that the screen creates imitates daylight, which sends the wrong signals to your brain and stops you from falling asleep easily.

4. Always Clean Up

When you are surrounded by a mess, you can often feel overwhelmed and nervous. Make sure you have enough storage space in your bedroom for all the things that you don’t use every day. Everything should have its place, and you should get rid of the rest.

5. Have More than One Light Source

If the only artificial light source in your bedroom is a chandelier, you are making a mistake. Lighting in the bedroom should be discreet and unobtrusive, and the best way to create a pleasant and intimate atmosphere is to build in a light dimmer, along with multiple light sources at different heights. You can achieve that by using floor lamps, table lamps, and wall lamps.

6. Don’t Leave Your Windows Bare

Blinds and curtains play an important role in the bedroom even thought we don’t pay much attention to them. They offer privacy, a more intimate lighting, and they can be a beautiful decoration. If you use regular blinds, plastic blinds or wooden blinds, you’re choosing the straightforward option, but the market offers a great choice of blinds that are not standard. Try researching things a bit, you may find something you like.

7. Make sure you Clean your Bed on a Regular Basis

Mites are everywhere. This isn’t really as bad as it sounds, unless you are allergic to them. Many other allergens can end up on the bed like house pet hair or other things that can cause major problems. To keep the bed clean, you can vacuum the mattress, and you should change the sheets at least once a week.
