Modern Medicine: How Doctors Are Using Medical Technology to Better Treat You

September 25, 2020

As time passes, life expectancy increases thanks to new advancements in medical science. As the technology improves, so do the chances that patients’ medical ailments will be successfully treated. In regards to health and technology, it’s an exciting time to be alive. There is so much great new technology for doctors and healthcare professionals to use to better treat you. Below is an overview of just a few examples.

Telehealth

Perhaps one of the biggest technological developments in patient care has been the advent of telehealth. Telehealth allows patients to speak with their doctors and other medical professionals and even be examined by them while many miles away. With the use of teleconferencing technology and smart medical devices that use the same technology as smart phones, doctors are able to collect almost all of the same data they would while in the same room as a patient. It will help to slash costs and give people in remote and rural locations access to the specialists they need.

Better Diagnostic Monitors

In the past, surgeons, doctors, and others had to make do with some rather basic tools for keeping track of a patient’s health status. While they were trained to understand those tools and the information they displayed, patients often had no idea what they were looking at.

However, those days are now in the past thanks to the introduction of far more advanced diagnostic monitors that use some of the same technology as high grade monitors designed for computer games. With high resolutions, LED backlighting, the ability to load multiple applications at once, nearly any kind of medical practice should be able to find a high tech monitor to match their needs from a diagnostic monitor supplier.

3D Printing

Something else that is helping doctors to innovate and bring down costs is 3D printing technology. Medical researchers were recently able to recreate a heart valve with the use of a 3D printer. Such a fabrication would have been much more difficult and cost prohibitive without this technology. Soon, all kinds of medical devices used both inside and outside the body will be created quickly and efficiently through the use of 3D printing.

Nanotechnology

Traditionally, surgery has required opening up a patient’s body to perform procedures on internal organs. However, what if surgery could be performed from the inside by tiny nanobots? While this may sound like something out of science fiction, it is closer to reality than you may think. Nanotechnology is improving by leaps and bounds. It is even being used to develop a vaccine to COVID-19.

As medical technology improves, so do patient outcomes. In regards to the state of medical science, this is the best time to be alive. This new cutting edge technology is sure to help many more patients recover from a wide array of different illnesses than ever before.
