Understanding Search Engine Algorithms

SEO can be a highly technical field with terms and phases that common laymen may not be able to understand easily. One common way to achieve higher traffic is by performing the search engine optimization process. However, we should be aware that each search engine is based on an algorithm. Algorithm is essentially a complex mathematical system that is used to determine the significance and importance of websites. They would be used to rank websites based on dozens or even hundreds of parameters, depending on the complexity of the algorithm. Each search engine is based on different algorithm that takes into consideration different components. It should be noted that algorithms change consistently and it can be quite difficult for even the most seasoned SEO experts to determine all the factors required. Even a top engineer in the search engine’s facility may not be able to comprehend all different parameters that are used dynamically. Pages are usually positioned by search engines based on specific relevance.

Algorithms are often considered as the secret ingredient of any search engine. In this case, we could just type in a word in the search engine and we would instantly obtain some search results. There are possibly millions of webpages that have relevance with our website, but algorithms will determine those that are the most relevant and hopefully, useful. In general, the further we go down the search, the less relevant they will be. We should imagine that search engine performs this task in a fraction of a second while handling millions of queries each minute.

It is clear that algorithms can be used to define the relevance of a website based on our requests. Search engines have different rules to categorize web page. In this case, it is very possible for one search engine to provide different results compared to others. When search engines begin to process the queries, they will check the title using different technical things. There is a complex process that needs to be performed to determine whether a webpage can be considered as relevant. Our aim should be to get higher traffic and we could appear higher on the ranking by adhering to specific characteristics.

The frequency and positioning of keywords could determine whether the webpage is relevant enough to be shown. Without sufficiently stringent and restrictive algorithm, we could end up with millions of results with equal relevance. This will make it harder for users to find information that they seek. In general, primary keywords should represent about 5 percent of the content and they should be placed in obvious places, such as titles, categories, tags and first sentences. Algorithms could also contain many anti-manipulation elements. In this case, they could automatically penalize websites that use dishonest techniques to gain higher results. To make friend with the often uncompromising algorithm, we should avoid using any kind of unethical technique. Any reputable SEO specialist should help us to use only honest methods. It should be quite easy understand how algorithms work in general by observing how they perform.
